The largest tax-payer of non-oil sector Azercell reported on the conclusions of 2012

Azercell is ambitious in 2013 also, which is the year of ICT


On February 6th, “Azercell Telekom” LLC organized a press-conference dedicated to the conclusions of the year 2012. The President of the company Mr. Chiril Gaburici mentioned in the opening speech that during the past year “Azercell” remained committed to its main principles of providing quality network and world class customer service to its subscribers. Thus, there were up to 1000 new radio base stations installed, number of Customer Service Centers reached 54 (out of which, 32 are in the regions). Azercell’s network covers 99,8% of the population and its subscriber base is over 4,4 million people.

The most exemplary symbols of Azercell’s successes in 2012 were the General Sponsorship of the “Eurovision-2012” song contest, deployment of 4G mobile internet technology (LTE) for first time in Azerbaijan and significant upgrade of its 3G network. Currently Azercell is the provider of the fastest mobile Internet in Azerbaijan (according to Ookla research based on the speed tests).

In 2012 the Company paid to the state budget 90 million manats in taxes (during 16 years this amount is 925 million manat). Investments to the development of the telecommunications sector in Azerbaijan reached 100 million manat (for 16 years this number is 1 billion manat). Thus, Azercell is the country’s largest tax-payer in the non-oil sector.

Within the last year the company spent 1.1 million manat for the professional development of its employees. Last year Azercell was awarded with the “Silver certificate” based on the appraisal on conformity with the Investors in People standards of the “Investors In People” (IIP) company. Azercell also became first in the customer satisfaction survey of EPSI Rating, as well as received the prestigious “International Business Awards – Stevie” for the second time.

Like any other year, in 2012 “Azercell Telecom” LLC also paid a special attention to social projects and spent 1.6 million manat for these activities. Moreover, last year Azercell supported “start-up” projects in the area of Information Technologies and financed implementation of several business ideas proposed by youth. Azercell retains its position as the country’s most popular brand in the social media (according to the rating list of the company called Socialbakers). Various attractive offers are made through different social media and we also provide customer care based on these resources.

Mr. Gaburici also highlighted that Azercell is very ambitious in 2013. The Company is fully ready for the Mobile Number Portability and will keep on investing to the development of telecommunication sector and further improvement of the customer service in 2013.
