International Community Recognizes Azercell’s Cybersecurity Capabilities

calendar 21.07.2026

The company becomes the first corporate organization from Azerbaijan to join FIRST

Azercell Telecom has officially become a member of FIRST—the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams—one of the world’s leading organizations bringing together information security incident response teams. With this achievement, Azercell has become the first and only corporate organization from Azerbaijan to join the global FIRST network. The company has also established the country’s first officially registered Computer Emergency Response Team in the telecommunications sector, Telecom CERT.

FIRST membership is granted only after an organization successfully completes a comprehensive international assessment covering its cybersecurity management system, incident response capabilities, and potential for international cooperation. Today, the forum brings together 874 cyber incident response teams from 118 countries, including leading global technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Cisco. Azerbaijan is also represented within FIRST by the teams of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service, the National Cybersecurity Agency, and the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azercell’s membership in FIRST confirms that the company’s cybersecurity activities comply with international standards and that it is recognized as a trusted partner within the global cybersecurity community. This achievement is the result of Azercell’s consistent, long-term efforts to develop and strengthen its cybersecurity framework.

The company continues to enhance its processes in line with the Information Security and Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2023–2027, systematically strengthening its technological capabilities. As part of these efforts, Azercell has expanded the use of artificial intelligence technologies within its internal systems, improving automated incident analysis, vulnerability detection, and rapid risk assessment. Enhanced real-time monitoring capabilities enable the company to identify potential cyberthreats at an early stage and respond promptly. Azercell has become the first telecommunications company in Azerbaijan to implement an artificial intelligence architecture for cyberthreat detection and the centralized management of its digital security ecosystem.

FIRST membership provides Azercell with access to an international platform for the real-time exchange of cyberthreat intelligence, early-warning mechanisms for emerging threats, global best practices, and direct cooperation with leading cyber incident response teams. This will enable the company to further improve the effectiveness of cyber incident prevention and response, strengthen the resilience of its network and digital services, and make an additional contribution to the development of Azerbaijan’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Azercell will continue to increase its investments in cybersecurity and expand international cooperation, contributing to the further strengthening of the security of the country’s digital infrastructure.
