Azercell strives for the splendid network, healthy citizens and clean environment Number of environment friendly green stations is increasing.

calendar 02.10.2015

Along with providing the country with the high class mobile communication to operate in large station bases by taking advantage of favorable, clean, inexhaustible solar energy. It might sound impossible, but such an operation has become a regular case for Azercell Telecom, the leading mobile operator of the country with great focus on environmental protection. In case of power interruption the batteries of radio base stations start operating with the fuel generators. At that time certain amount of carbon dioxide is polluted to the air. Focused on keeping the environment clean, Azercell intends to operate as harmless as possible. With this aim, Azercell is currently working with Northern Automation on the application of hybrid batteries. Unlike the traditional batteries, it takes hybrid batteries a shorter time – just 2.5 hours to be fully charged. It prevents the device from starting with partial charge and ensures its long-term useful life. Moreover, Lithium batteries are heat resistant. While regular batteries operate in 25°C, the new ones work in 45°C with no need for conditioner. It utilizes generator less and fuel consumption is decreased.

Azercell has already purchased 2 new batteries and conducted testing. Currently, the new batteries operate in RBS’s in Guzdak and in Jalilabad village of Aghusam. In addition, Azercell has installed two new sites using only solar energy. The stations installed together with Huawei operate in daytime with the solar energy. Traditional generator works 200 hours a month and uses 500 litres of fuel while in stations working with the solar energy the generator operates some 30 hours in 6 months and uses 75 litres of fuel.

Applying the most contemporary equipment Azercell possesses 4932 2G/3G/4G base stations and 1464 second carriers and the number of these sites continues to grow steadily. Nearly 60 new radio base stations have been installed this year.

Azercell continues efforts to reduce damage to environment by increasing the number of RBS’s and calls everyone to join such initiatives.
