With the largest market share and more than 4,8 million customers, Azercell is the leading mobile operator in Azerbaijan.

The 100% shareholder of Azercell is the Turkish company  " Azertel Telekomünikasyon ve Yatırım Dış Ticaret A.Ş,"  

Azercell was founded in January 1996 and started its commercial activity as the first GSM operator in Azerbaijan on December 15 of the same year. In 1998, Azercell was among the first companies in the global telecommunications sector to offer a prepaid system (SimSim).

Azercell has invested more than 1 billion USD in projects aimed at developing the telecommunications sector and improving the social welfare of the country. According to the Ministry of Taxes, Azercell is the largest contributor of taxes in the non-oil sector of the country.

Mobile operator controls 49% of market share; while its geographical coverage constitutes 99.2% (excluding the occupied territories); and population coverage 99.8%.

Azercell was the pioneering mobile operator to introduce a number of innovations in Azerbaijan, including GSM technology, advance payment system, mobile internet services, 24/7 call center service (*1111), 7/7 Front Office service, Azercell Express offices, M2M services, 4G technology, mobile, online customer care services and customer services through social media, mobile e-signature service “ASAN Imza” etc.

Rapidly increasing 4G network of Azercell covers nearly 60 regions of the country, inclusing Baku and Absheron peninsula. According to the results of mobile network quality and wireless coverage mapping surveys by international systems, Azercell’s 4G network demonstrated the best results among the mobile operators of Azerbaijan.

Azercell holds ISO 10002:2014, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, Certificate of IIP (Investors In People), OHSAS 18001 and EN15838 (European standard guaranteeing a high level of customer service) international standards.
